Ruben Barrera-Michel is the CEO of HMSM, company founded in Guadalajara, Mexico dedicated to provide logistic services to American Airlines, United Airlines and Copa Airlines at Guadalajara’s Airport. He is a consultant of many of these companies too. Ruben received his B.S.C.E degree from Universidad del Valle de Atemajac (2004) and he had a Master Degree in Industrial Engineering (2007). He has been speaker in many conferences, both national and international, in private and public universities. In 2009 he was recognized as an outstanding engineer by the governor of Jalisco State and Jalisco Engineer’s Chamber, and received in 2015 the Professional Outstanding Graduated Award from the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac for his contributions to the society. In 2021 he was appointed as Alumni Reference for his contributions to the students and the University.

  • For major contribution to Student Activities and GOLD in 2012
  • 15 senior member elevations in one year
  • In 2013 I supported more than 15 senior member elevations (as nominator or reference) and during my first year as Guadalajara Section Section Chair, I duplicated the number of Senior Members.
  • Smart Cities kick off in 2015
  • Guadalajara city was selected by IEEE Future Direction Committee for the Smart Cities kick off and invested about 450,000USD
  • Impact in IEEE MGA Committees
  • As Chair of A&A in 2019 with staff implemented the online review process to avoid to print hundreds of applications that were used to be shipped the panels locations, saving a lot of economic resources to IEEE. And as Chair of MGA Training Committee, we achieved our goal of providing 65 VoLT leaders each year. Also in 2020 we implemented the renewed VoLT program and renewed the IEEE 101 courses. I worked to renew all the content at CLE site with the SC2020 recommendations.
